The Country Pub Project
Australia’s country towns are struggling to survive, with many falling victim to unemployment, drought, bushfire, xenophobia and waning tourism. Often, the country pub is the only glue left holding these communities together.
The Country Pub Project is a sustainable tourism initiative by Airbnb that sought to revive country towns by revitalising country pubs—in structure and in patronage.
Not only did the campaign provide a much needed boost to regional Australia’s tourism economy, but it positioned Airbnb as the country’s favourite travel booking site once again.
